This is our 2nd year following this sweet curriculum for science/bible and if I told you I could do it every year 'til I send my kids to college I wouldn't be lying. It's just so neat how they intertwine scientific knowledge with biblical truth! Since we did it last year we are not spending too much time on it, mainly reviewing and doing some of the fun stuff. Here's my post from last year's SUN lesson.
We turned grapes into raisins and charted their transition over the course of the week, made a sun dial, learned about shadows all same as last year. New this year I had them look at and enjoy pictures of famous paintings featuring the sun, then choose their favorite and try to paint it themselves.
We had Claude Monet's Sunrise
Vincent Van Gogh's Landscape with Rising Sun
Edvard Munch's The Sun
and Atelier's Rising Sun
Lucy chose the Atelier and got started on mixing her dark oranges before I had a chance to say go. She's my always eager one ;) Here is a picture of them at work. I didn't get a picture of their end product but I can tell you it was round, big and dark orange and there was an umbrella hanging around there somewhere.
We also had some fun making SUN snacks...
