- Bear Shadow by Frank Asch - We must have read this book over two dozen times (wish I was making that up). You played outside with your shadow for hours after reading this.
- Building a Sun Dial and tracking the position of the shade every couple of hours
- Attempting to make raisins out of grapes to learn that the sun provides us with heat. Mother nature didn't cooperate with us (it rained non stop that week) but you diligently placed the grapes under the little sunshine we did get and protected them from drowning before every down pour. I was so tempted to replace those grapes with raisins and tell you "look baby, we did it!" but my conscious got the best of me. We did manage to make sun tea and that made up for the raisin failure.
No picture of the poor little grapes....
- Watching your handwriting of the letter S improve after some of the tactile exercises we did. The people that come up with these ideas are brilliant! Who would have thought touching pebbles and cornmeal would help you write better?
- Hearing you tell me in your own words (narrate) how the sun and Jesus are alike.
- Watching you and your sis enjoy nature!
Staring at a lizard change colors outside our nature window...
Jenna, enjoying a Texas storm. You go out into the garage, grab your helmet and climb into the stroller all by yourself. You stayed there for about 15 minutes. You take after me because I could stare at or listen to rain all day and night if you let me.

- We could not end a school week without throwing a paper craft in there or you would have had a meltdown so I searched online for something fun you could cut and glue. This wasn't part of the curriculum but it kept you engaged for about an hour and you loved every minute of it.
but above all, this sweet face of yours is what I am going to tuck away in my memories of your first week of Kindergarten.
