Wrapping Job - on letting go :)

Our homeschool is busy Today making preparations for Dad/Jim's family birthday celebration.

The cake is on the cooling rack.  Baked porkchops getting baked.  There is a banner waiting to be hanged and a table to set.  Lucy finished drawing her birthday card and she's now on to the next project - wrapping the gift.  It's fun to take a day just to celebrate Dad.

I had to stop and come to the blog to share these pictures.  What you see right here is a testimony of how far I've come in my control issues ;)

I don't have any problem letting the kids do messy jobs with art, science experiments and in the kitchen but there are certain things I normally like done "perfectly".  Wrapping gifts is one of those things. Bless my type A heart!

I knew Lucy would be overjoyed to take over the wrapping job so I pushed down my perfectionist tendencies and let her have a crack at it.

I think she used a whole thing of tape. Her seams didn't meet each other but she made up for it by curling the paper at the ends. I think it definitely gives it a little extra something ;)

I tell ya, sometimes I don't know who is learning the most out of this homeschooling deal, the kids or their Mom.  Here's to letting go... :)

Nice job letting go, it's hard to do...baby steps! My kiddos really like to wrap and wrapped presents ($1.00 puzzles from Target) for freinds at Christmas time, they had so much fun and it meant so much to them. Good work Lucy!
