Year End Festivities. We are DONE.

Year end celebrations and awards ceremonies are so fun.  It's great to see the kids being recognized for their hard work.  Here are some of our year end festivities:

1.  Steps of Faith Dance Recital:

The theme for this year's dance recital was SHINE.

The kiddos spent the year learning Bible verses related to LIGHT.  The main Bible verse for  the year was:

"Arise, Shine, for your light has come, And the glory of the Lord rises upon you." - Isaiah 60:1

The studio staff did a good job tying the dances, the music and even the costumes to the theme.

This was my first year being a class mom and that was exciting.  I enjoyed being allowed back stage and taking candid pictures of the girls right before going on stage.

I had to inspect for gum chewing, head pieces falling down, make up mishaps, etc.

This is our 3rd year at Steps of Faith and you'd think I would feel like a veteran but such a big production always has a way to make everyone feel a little nervous.  It all came together nicely though and Mrs. Julie opened up with a heartfelt prayer that the girl's efforts would minister to the audience in some way.

Lucy performed in 2 numbers.  One was for her Tumble class and the other for her Cheer class.  This video of the dress rehearsal the night before the show.

2.  Homeschool Coop Kindergarten Graduation:

We had fun taking some pictures at home before we left for the church
There were 5 kindergarten graduates in our homeschool coop this year.

The ceremony took place during the coop's family night so there were close to 150 people celebrating with us all in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Silsbee, where we normally meet for classes.  We had a slide show with pictures from birth to present for each child.  They each walked down the aisle towards the altar where each set of parents were standing while their slide show played.

Lucy walked down to "Let my life song sing to you" and it was all we could do not to cry as we watched the pictures and her walking towards us with that huge smile of hers.

Each Dad got to present their graduate with the diploma and that was a sweet moment as well.

After the ceremony, we had a party and each graduate sat a table decorated for them.  Lots of sugar and cake were eaten and we all went home with full, happy hearts.

3.  Jenna's MDO End of School Program:

Jenna attended the Mother's Day Out program at First Baptist Loeb this year.  The theme for their year end program was a beach summer party.

this was during rehearsal a few days prior to the program
Water Day on their last day
The auditorium was decorated beautifully and the teacher's did a great job with costumes as well.  Jenna sang 2 songs and you'll just have to watch the video because the cuteness is out of this world.

4.  AWANA Awards Ceremony:

This award ceremony was a highlight of our school year.  The theme was Olympic games.

These are some of the awards our older students and AWANA graduates received.
Each child received a medal with 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 inscribed in it.

"Don't you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize?  Run in such a way to win the prize.  Not everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything.  However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but we a crown that will never fade away." 1 Corinthians 9:24-25

Our group of roughly 100 children collectively memorized close to 5,000 verses this year (Glory to God !!).  Now that's a treasure that will not fade away!  We were all so proud of them.

Lucy along with 4 of her peers was recognized for completing her Sparks book and completing the review portion of it as well.  She earned her review wings patch to add to her vest.

We are still recovering from all this excitement and starting to find our summer groove.  I hope to share a bit about what we do while we are off from school.  Have a blessed summer!
