Ll - Leaf - I will live and grow in Jesus

I keep saying this with every lesson but at the moment I thought the curriculum couldn't do any better than the material on this lesson but then I go the apple and... well, that's the next post.

Some highlights about the leaf lesson:

1.  We had an extra long walk around our neighborhood collecting different types of leaves and we got back home with about 30 different kinds.  We narrowed our pile down for the activities we had in store otherwise it would have taken forever to get through them.  I thought it was really clever for the lesson to have the student sort the leaves collected by size, then by shape, and by color.  We fine tuned your understanding of the concepts "largest, larger, smaller, smallest" and it had you explore some new words to describe the shapes.

2.  It was also fun to hear you tell me without hesitation what would happen to the leave that "chose" to leave the tree and live in isolation.  The lesson uses this illustration to show how we are like a leaf and God is like a tree who provides us with everything we need.  There are people who think they can live away from God... so we pulled the leaf out of the tree and let it sit by itself to see what would happen to it.  You looked at me very seriously and said "Mom, the leaf will die... when we live away from God we die".
