Left and Right

I don't know why or how but it seems to me the really cool lessons, the practical ones, those ones with concepts used on a day to day basis end up being learned from Daddy (Jim) at our house.  I hate to admit I felt a little green (with envy that is) when I realized Lucy mastered the concepts of RIGHT and LEFT under her Father's instruction.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's probably the difference in teaching methods we use... he taught her to distinguish right from left by swinging her in the air like a pendulum yelling "RIGHT!!!!" when she was on her right side or "LEFT!!!" when she was on her left over and over until I'm sure the kid was about to pass out from laughter.

I have pictures of this barbaric school session but I think I'll keep them off the Internet to protect the innocent ;)

The next practical lesson on our agenda is to teach her to read time on a clock.  Will keep you posted on whose teaching style prevails.  I'm trying to think outside the box here... can't let Daddy get all the brownie points so if you have some good ideas do share... right now I'm leaning towards the use of felt and velcro.   Yes, they call me dangerous!
