We are slowly adding some new chores to Lucy's chart. She has always enjoyed helping set the table so this week we did a lesson on how to properly set it so she can take over that task from now on.
I had fun researching the different table settings for different occasions and cultures. Take a look at this chart, isn't it neat?
At our house though, we keep things casual so this colorful chart was what I used to teach Lucy:
Here's our little helper setting her first table all by herself:
She chose a curious George napkin for Daddy and princess napkins for the rest of us :)
yes, the knife is pointing in the wrong direction on this last one... she fixed it once we took a closer look at her diagram ;)

This reminded me of a craft project I saw once - draw your own "set the table" template on a large piece of paper (placemat sized) then your child can color each thing- such as the plate blue and the cup red, for example- then you laminate it and they can take it from spot to spot to help remind them where things go or use it as their placement. It's basically the same as the template you showed but you make it yourself. And the craft project suggested you can even use dry erase markers to write on the placemat and they easily wash off. I haven't tried it- yet.... Thanks for the inspiration, been needing to add some chores to Eli's routine. Maybe I'll start with having him set the table once I feel better. :)

She is so meticulous! I was trying to think of some new chores Reid may be capable of. Thanks for the idea!
